GENERAL CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic care is a form of healthcare based on the principal of the relationship between the body's nervous system and the spinal column. In addition to reducing pain, spinal adjustments enhance the ability of the nervous system to function at an optimal level.
Because the nervous system controls every organ and every cell in your body, chiropractic care can impact the function of every system in your body. This is how chiropractic care can help countless conditions from musculoskeletal pain and headaches to digestive issues and even infertility. Literally any condition could potentially benefit from chiropractic care.
According to history, the first chiropractic patients did not present with neck pain or back pain at all. The first patient, Harvey Lillard, actually suffered from deafness in one ear. He was found to have obvious spinal misalignment that upon correction, miraculously resulted in restoration of his hearing.
The second case involved an individual who suffered from a heart condition that failed to respond to traditional methods of treatment. This patient was also found to have spinal misalignment. The misalignment was located in the region of the spine where the nerves exiting the spinal cord continue on to innervate the heart and control cardiac function. Spinal adjustments at this vertebral level resulted in immediate relief. From correlating the outcome of these two incidences, the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic was developed.
The goal of chiropractic care is to eliminate any nervous system interference allowing the body to function at it's optimum. This interference is generally the result of vertebral misalignments which Chiropractors refer to as spinal subluxations.
Subluxations can result from many things including physical trauma, environmental toxins, or even from mental stress. The goal of chiropractic care is to remove any subluxations, in turn freeing the nervous impulses from any interference and allowing the body to restore optimal function.
